I have a friend at work that his motor has gone out. The washer has been great for him but just 6months out of the ten year warranty. Shopuld he try for a replacement motor only or the kit PN 12002039 to replace. They have not had a mold problem al all and this is the first time anything has gone wrong with the machine. He has checked out the control board and it is fine. Just the motor does not work.

Just get the kit...

The motor may be out BUT the motor control board may be screwed up too. I've put the conversion kit on my MAH4000AWW washer and haven't looked back. The new motor is a million times quieter and the control board is built with better heat sinks for the triacs and a line filter as well. I really don't see many of the new style motor/controls crap out. I highly recommend changing the belt at the same time. If you have the older 'Dayco' mfg belt, change it for the newer Hutchinson mfg. The conversion is really easy to do, too. Good luck!
