Manufacturer’s codes to identify true manufacturer.

I know this has come up before, but here we go again.
I am drawing a blank. Appliances have codes (EIA Code ?? ) that identify the core manufacturer.
Is a list or chart of these codes available?
(I’ll probably be buying a new dehumidifier and there are manufacturers I wish to avoid.)

Is that a US thing?
I mean, I work in appliance development and mainly do data management and NEVER encountered such a thing even though we for sure produce for companies under contract.
But I only do EU and emerging markets stuff, so maybe that's why?

It says "could" so I don't think anybody is required to use them.

It's been years since have seen such a listing. Used to have a site or two bookmarked and or listing saved that had requested information, but that was about two computers ago. *LOL*

Also had listing for Sears/Kenmore so one could tell who made what for them.
