Mated Kenmore 800 washer/dryer set!

This just got posted on facebook marketplace, it's rare to find a set, and it's in good operating condition! They are posted at $200 but say that they are open to offers.

That 1965 800 washer was not near as common as the 1965 Lady Kenmore. Nice set!

When the next door family that had the two LK Combos moved to San Antonio, the family that bought the house had this Kenmore 800 washer and matching dryer in coppertone.

Mated Kenmore 800 washer/dryer set!

I live close by I met the very nice man that was selling this set. His mother passed away about 1.5 years ago. She was 83. House was built in the 1960s mother had the set for many years. I am always apprehensive of old belt drive washers especially Kenmores. Well the washer had not been ran in 1.5 years since the man who conducted the estate sale used them to wash all of the linen for sale. WEll. When we hooked up the machine it filled up and agitated just fine, Then when it came time for spin a very ear piercing noise squealing and spinning pieces of metal chunks and rust kept comming up from the bottom of the tub. I told him I was not interested in the washer. Apparently when the guy who ran the estate sale used it he must have left a metal curtain hook in the curtain which we found caused all of this chaos. On the other hand the dryer fired right up and ran just fine. I took the dryer home for $40 its a beast of a dryer. Again to hear and learn the history this washer needs to be burried in the junkyard it has had its time.

Over a hook caught in the outer tub? That's easily fixable. Will the dryer get trashed when the belt breaks?
