Ok, so I am FINALLY trying to fix this Maytag today, got the cover off and looked inside, and ick...How do I remove this lid/switch; overload protector?
It is harder for me than you guys told me earlier, because the dial is in the way or does this just pull out?
My light in here sucks right now too....NOT helping this poor old woman out! LOL
Hoping this pic comes thru and I can start washing without the plastic and screwdriver jammed in it! LOL
Thanks!

To access the lid switch, remove the screws from the brackets that attach the console face to the top. This should give you easy access to the lid switch.

Thanks for your reply.
I removed the 2 top of console screws to access the inside.
Everything in there is small nuts, no screws, and I do not have the tools to remove this, unfortuneately.
If their was a way to get the lid off the machine, I could access the 2 screws where the lid switch comes out.
I am still working on this thing, trying to figure out how to get it out, and find the wires.

Maytagmom, the lid switch is held in place by two screws, with 1/4 inch heads on them.Sometimes you can loosen them with a long 1/4" nutdriver. If not, there are 4 screws that hold the console to the top. They also have 1/4" heads, two on each side of the console, that go into the top of the washer.Remove them, the console then can be moved forward,to access the lid switch.Let us know if you need more info.

thanks kennygf

I tried posting a pic of what I was dealing with, but it was too large to be posted. I got so frustrated, I had to put it back together, but I did get 3 loads washed! LOL
I will try to tackle it again in the next day or two.
Guess I will have to go out and get the tool needed.
Im not calling the maytag repairman, yet! ;-)
