I have to defer to all the washer/dryer experts on here as to your opinions and experience on the set in the attached Craigslist link. The dryer is obviously Whirlpool based, but what about the washer? Were these truly "commercial" quality or just a rebadged Whirlpool. I am inquiring for a very good friend who wants to take them to his new place in St. Louis.

He is not set on an electric dryer as they have Nat Gas in the house but the deal may be a good one. I just want to be sure of the reliability and possible life expectancy of the washer.

The dryer model number is MEDC400VWO Serial is M01799959
The Washer is model MVWC500VW1 Serial is C00943014

As always, thanks for your input.

The washer is a Whirlpool direct-drive.  It should have a stainless steel basket but there's probably nothing much else that makes it any more "commercial" than other direct-drives (maybe a beefier motor coupler).

2008 model-year.

Washer production date 9th week of 2010.

Dryer production date 17th week of 2010.

I have that washer in my hair salon. It does a decent job overall. The only thing is that it is easily the loudest machine that I have ever used. During agitation it has some sort of knock to it. I have had my normal repair person out to look at it twice and he says that it is normal for this machine. Have had it for 5 or 6 years now and it is still plugging away doing normally 4 loads a day with no repairs other than having the water valves replaced. It came from my mil house where it did not seem much use. Maybe they say its commercial because of the noise. You know when the cycle is finished. lol

I'm seeing what looks like the beginnings of rust under the washer console.

They've got some mileage on them I bet.

No photos of the wash tub (or dryer) probably means its gross from years of cold water washes and they were too lazy to do a quicky clean up for the CL ad but yet are asking top dollar.

They look cosmetically better on the exterior than what is usually offered on Craigslist or Facebook.  Interior is always questionable without pics but that can be handled even if some disassembly is needed to get at smutz in the washer's outer tub.  Mechanicals requires an examination and can also be handled if one is willing to do refurb repairs.
