Maytag DE 407

Hello all,
I just saved a harvest gold Maytag DE 407 Dryer and it runs but no heat I ordered a heating coil. Its the old style with the halo heat I believe and I cant find a video to show me how to change it and even get the front panel off. and suggestions where to find a video or instructions.

I believe you take the whole cabinet loose. Sure it's the element?

While the heating element is probably the most common reason these stop heating due to poor design of having the element below the drum lip where metallic items from the load can fall on the element and short it out easily.

 

The next most common reasons these dryers stop heating are wires in the heater circuit burned off the element, hi-limit thermostat, bad timer-timer contacts, bad motor switch and bad hi-limit or operating thermostat.

 

Fortunately these are simple dryers to diagnose although it is a PITA to remove the cabinet just to replace the element, be sure if you take it apart that far to replace the front felt seal to reduce the chance of items falling on the heater element.
