We have a vintage Maytag dishwasher (model 701 (can't read the first 2 letters) that we have used daily since the day it was purchased. It's moved with us and is a wonderful workhorse. The soap dispenser has stopped working correctly and no longer opens itself automatically releasing the second batch of soap. How can I fix this? Do I need to remove it completely, and if so where is the access? I also need to purchase new gasket for the door. Where can I buy "new" parts. I recently replaced my workhorse Maytag washer and dryer and regret it EVERY DAY! The new ones really stink.
Thanks for any help and leads.

I had the same issue with a WU401 that came with the house we bought 5 years ago.  I wound up replacing the entire detergent dispenser on mine - the cup had a bimetal heater unit that would cause the 2nd wash cup cover to trip.  I'm not sure of the Maytag part number, though - I stripped one out of a curbside find Reverse Rack dishwasher a few years ago and it still worked.
