Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Dan, wasn’t the model below this one more popular or not? Seem to think it would have been since it was slightly cheaper and just had a simple timer that was reliable. Essentially a carry over from the 640C but with the dots on the glass as opposed to the lines.

The D700 was just timed dry. It was most likely popular due to a cheaper price and simpler controls. This design was so far advanced and ahead of its time it probably scared off just about everyone except nerds...like some of us here.

I find it interesting when people think moisture sensors are modern technology, but not many people realize that moisture sensors have been around since 1960. The Maytag HOH with the electronic dry control is probably the only dryer with moisture sensors to evenly dry small to large loads. Any other dryer would either shut off too soon or possibly would over dry. I mean hell, even my Maytag DG407 with it’s thermostatic auto dry will dry things to completion despite load size.
