Maytag gives the boot to ol' lonely

Seems the hit advertising campaign is being significantly modified and ol lonely is being given the boot, well actually demoted to cameo appearances in commercials.  Jessie White and Gordon Jump must be rolling over in their graves. 

 

And Don (Jetaction), I still remember your audition video you sent, when Maytag was looking for a new guy to be in the commercials.  I still think you would have been the best ol' lonely, but now you would have been almost unemployed, so it worked out best with you and the restaurant.

I'm not surprised.  Their tag line of "The dependability people" hasn't applied since before Newton shut down.  The new tag line is vague.  Do they mean what's inside the tub, or what's inside the cabinet?

 

I haven't seen the lonely guy in a Maytag ad for quite a while.  Unfortunately, he no longer belongs in one or just doesn't have the spare time, seeing as how he's swamped with service calls.

OLD LONELY;  The dependability people theme was dropped by MT years before WP took control and while Newton was still producing appliances. If you look at the warranty claims since WP took over they have fallen greatly on the current MT branded appliances as compared with what MT was selling.
