My youngest son has a MDC4100AWX Maytag dishwasher it fills and pump runs but does not spray the water like it should in the wash and rinse cycles. I fills and drains ok. Where should we start looking for the problem? We installed a builtin dishwasher for them so this will go to his mothr-in-law if repairable.

Thanks in advance for any help

Beneath the pump cover there is a circular mesh filter. If it's clogged with food it will not let the water flow to the wash arm. Also check to see that the wash impeller is tight to the shaft of the motor.

while you're checking the filter, make sure the backwash arm (a 4 legged affair) is clean at the ends where water sprays out to clean the filter assy. Make sure the spray jets on the wash arms are clean and the wash arms turn freely. This is a portable model and is dependent on good pressure from the faucet. The ideal water level is when the water level in the tub is just below or just touching the circular heating element. If it isn't, you don't have enough water to properly wash. If you want, I can post a breakdown of the wash system to assist your teardown. Just let me know. By the way, your dishwasher can be converted to a built in with a kit if you ever wanted to cabinet mount it.

Thanks guys I will go over this afternoon and help him check it out. Water pressure here is pretty good but will let it fill and start then open and see where the water level is.
