Maytag washer draining problem

Hello washer experts,I have a newer Maytag model number MVWC416FW anyway the problem I've been having is when I wash large loads and blankets when it begins to drain and starts to spin all the water starts backing up into the machine and causes the washer to stop and then it starts to pump out the rest of the water making the cycle to be longer.I've called Lowe's and had a repair man look at it but he said nothing was wrong but it works fine when no clothes or small to medium loads.

I have an MVWC415EW that is 13 mo old and it is essentially the same as your machine. I haven’t noticed any problems with the drain and spin on large loads, but I do know that it does stop briefly during the spin sometimes and the restarts, but it has always done this. It kind of spins in stages, but has always worked flawlessly.

If you are concerned why not give Maytag a call, they may be able to help you or reassure you that there is no problem. I doubt that it is anything to worry about though, as long as the loads are getting spun out thoroughly and are clean.

I wash just about everything on hot, high soil level for max wash time, using either the Power Wash or Deep Water cycles and every load is done in 50-55 mins.

I might add that I have been very pleased with this machine, one of the best I’ve ever owned out of the 18 different washers I’ve owned since 1972.

that seems pretty much normal for the most part.....

these pumps are not a continuous cycle type, its like a pulsed, X amount of time 'on' and X amount of time 'off'....

and yeah, something like a blanket that holds a lot of water would be a culprit that may seem odd when washing....

theres also a reason for the so called pulsed spins, it allows the water to drop, and then starts up again, once a certain weight/strain on the motor is lifted, it will take off into higher speeds...

maybe watch a few youtube vids, to see if yours operates like those, or something noticeable way off track....

This is most likley due to the outer tub filling up with water at a faster rate than usual that the pump can handle taking out. If the drum kept turning the water would just turn with the drum against the outter tub walls.

I know my Whirlpool Duet AND my Inglis Direct Drive would do similar things with large absorbent items. My duet would kick into spin, the outer tub would fill up with water making it sound like it had a bearing issue (LOL), then it would immediately stop the spin cycle and the drain pump would drain all the water out, rebalance and try to spin again.

My Inglis DD, would keep spinning but the tub would spin slower and when the water drained out, it would reach up to speed.

So honestly i'd say this is normal. One thing I would check is the drain hose, check it for any possible clogs, it being too high, kinks and bends.
