Maytag Wringer Ohio

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

It's a BOL Maytag NX or "Bluebell"

This was a loss-leader created by Maytag from the N series wringer, but stripped down even further so that they could advertise a rock bottom price. I'm told the grey is actually a primer coat and the speckled porcelain cheaper to produce than a white.

It also has a few other engineered shortcomings ... there is no centerpost to the agitator, just a platter with fins, causing all sorts of problems with tangling. The electric cord is shorter, and there is no hanger for the lid. Also no pump.

I am also told that, as an incentive to up-sell, no sales commission was paid on this model, and there is no dedicated literature. It never seems to turn up in Maytag catalogs.

That being said, you do see them every once in a blue moon, often with the agitator upgraded.
