Just started having problems with this maytag washer. Replace the timer last summer and have not had any problems since. Now it agitates normally but when it goes into spin on the regular cycle it starts then stops and starts again and stops etc. On the pp cycle it won't spin at all. Checked the belts seems fine. The motor stops and then starts again only during the spin. What may be the problem here.
Thanks,
Jon

Sounds like a motor/motor start switch issue.

Remove the belts and give the pulley a twist in both directions. The pulley should turn with immense ease.

With the belts still removed, advance the timer to the spin portion of the regular cycle and see if the motor is still being tripped on and off.

Any weird noises, like a bearing going out (specifically, the radial bearing)?

As always, check your connections and wiring to and from the motor and motor start switch.

Almost forgot....

Are the motor rollers/glides still in tact and sliding with ease?

Had it happen to me once...

How long between the motor stopping and resuming? Sounds like the windings may be going on that motor and the thermal cutout is kicking in when the motor really gets under load (such as spin).

Still looking for a motor for this unit. Awhile back someone listed the name of a company that I got the timer for this unit. I have checked the past threads and cannot find that one. If someone has the name of the company I would greatly appreciate it. Checking locally also to see if there is a company around that does motor rewinding.
Thanks
Jon
