With help from a Miele technician on another site, I have figured out how to enable Allergy Wash and increase the water level when WaterPlus is selected. (This is for my Miele W1 (WXD160.)
Be very, very careful when going into Service Programming Mode. Unless you know exactly what setting you are changing, you could screw up your machine and cause yourself an expensive service call to get it working again. Many of the settings are the exact same as in the regular User Mode as described in the Operating Instructions manual. (Refer to the Operating Instructions for more information on the P settings listed below.) Make any changes at your own risk.
To access Service Programming Mode:
1. Power on the unit
2. Open door
3. Press / hold the Start button while closing the door
4. Once Start begins flashing rapidly, press the button five times and hold on the last (fifth) press.
5. Release the Start button once it begins flashing rapidly again. (The display will say P00.)
Press Start to toggle between the P# and the option to change the setting. When done, turn the cycle selector dial to off to save the setting and exit.
Here are the options:
P12 Buzzer
P13 Keypad Tone
P14 PIN Code
P22 Control On/Off
P24 Memory (Save last cycle settings)
P25 Water Inlet
P28 Gentle Action
P29 Reduce Temperature
P31 WaterPlus Level
Normal (Factory Default) = 01
Plus = 02
Plus Plus = 03
Plus Plus Plus = 04 (Pic shown is the rinse level on a Normal cycle with WaterPlus selected, this setting at 04 and Max Rinse Level [P32] enabled.)
P32 Max Rinse Level
P33 Suds Cooling
P34 Anti-Crease
P49 Low Water Pressure Sensing
P50 (Unknown)
P51 (Unknown)
P52 (Unknown)
P53 (Unknown)
P54 Allergy Wash (increases water levels and forces an extra rinse) 00 is Off/Factory Default and 01 is on.
P55 Chlorine Bleach dispensing
P56 (Unknown)
P62 Display Brightness
P63 Welcome Tone
P97 Remote Control
P98 SmartGrid
P99 Remote Update
I compared cycle times with the allergy option off and on and got the following information:
Cycle Time with Allergy setting OFF (H:mm) Time with Allergy setting ON (H:mm)
Normal 1:26 1:42
Sanitize 2:28 2:43
ExtraWhite 1:52 2:07
Darks/Denims 1:31 1:31
Out of curiosity, I changed the WaterPlus level setting and it did nothing to the cycle times.
I noticed that when Heavy soil was selected and WaterPlus was selected, it added ten minutes to all cycle times (just like when WaterPlus is not selected.) The only exception to this was when Heavy soil was selected on the Normal cycle and WaterPlus was enabled, it now adds 20 minutes to the cycle time.
Super happy as now I get an extra rinse on most commonly used cycles. I ran a few loads (Sanitize, ExtraWhite and Normal) and all added a third rinse. Darks/Denims was not affected by these changes as the default for that cycle already had very high water levels.
If anyone knows what the above settings (listed as Unknown) are, please let me know.
I loved my Miele before and this makes me love it even more now.
