The 1900 series has been discontiuned by Miele, replaced by the rather water stingy 1200 series (well, "stingy" by some accounts). 1900 series units are becoming scarce, so now may be the chance.

How do you know if they have they have them? I love my touchtrinic Miele.It is fabulous, however, you have to run the entire program, there is no spin only option.You can stop the program, and start it again, which I have done.

I have worked on a few Miele - and had a few, too. Never heard of a touchtronic which didn't permit you to select a spin only. Which model do you have? This I'd like to look up on the German site. Their English guides aren't always quite up to snuff, maybe something got left out.

Keven, it's twully twue, the Mieles made for the states have no flexibility, just things to push. There is no rinse & spin or Fine rinse, no spin only, so if something does not spin as dry as you wanted, you cannot go back and give it a second chance at spinning. I read the user manual many times online for the new ones and then dashed out to find the old style Novotronics. Jon in the UK has a fabulous Miele with lots of flexibility, but nothing like it is available over here.

I was kind of suprized myself. I have grown acostomed to it. It does spin pretty fast, and I love the Honey Comb Drum( great for casmere), they always seen pretty dry compaired with my old one . Honestly, when i was jeans, i usually use what is on my machine called Sturdy.It is One hour long, and it usually seems to do the trick. There is a program that I can costomize, however it is unbending where I start it, and that is always from the begining. I also love the heating element that it has in it.. i do however plan to have a Novatronic in my colection eventually. One more thing, they charged my for the box seperately from the cost of the set(189 us dollars)total was 3500.

Ok, that is weird. Over here in Germany, Miele is known for their limited, but easy to use controls. but no separate spin??? Totally strange.
I wonder what they were thinking? Thanks for the info, folks.
Oh, most late model Miele can be re-programmed (my dishwasher through the rinse-agent/add salt light. Wonder if an American machine could thus be restored to full flexibility?

In Defence of Miele

According to persons we have spoken to at Miele USA, at one time they did offer myraid of cycle choices, and feedback from American consumers was less than wonderful. Most stating that it was "too confusing" with all those cycle choices, hence the changes with the 1200 series. FWIW many American front loaders, such as Bosch's Nexxt do not offer "rinse & spin" or merely "rinse" and or "spin" cycles either.

My solution to this was simply to seek out and purchase a vintage Miele w1070 washer. My unit is controled by a mechanical timer, so can control most all portions of any cycle. No computers, no mother board, no blinking lights, etc.

T1213 is more intuative than the old ones

it was strange one day when I was watching the washer, it was kind of a sudsy load( I had washed a shirt for a friend that had gred badly) she uses way to much soap, and it was still in her shirt. This was the second rince ending, and the washer added 20 mines to the load. i had never seen a washer do that before. the water came out clear close to the end. iknow that I set my comforter a little to high of a spin speed one time, and the machine figured out tha t had done this and slowed it down to 800. It struck me when I was at work, and i run home to make sure.It is kind of like an extra pair of eyes and ears making sure that i do not make a mistake. This one also has a bigger opening on it the the old series.
If you were thinking of getting the old series, you can ask your sales person to look on Miele web and see where one is. They made alot of them.

The W1070 series was replaced by the 1900 series. Miele stopped production on the 10** series in the late-80's early 90's. Parts are still available from Miele, but highly doubt you would find units at any Miele dealer. Just have to keep one's eyes peeled for estate sales or eBay.

Even the 1900 series has been phased out by the new 1200 series, with the much loved 1918 washer becoming very hard to find at dealers. Our local dealer had one on dispaly for ages, and at first told us the Miele sales rep was going to take them back, but the last time was in it was still there, and even slightly reduced in price. Went back before Thanksgiving, just to check for anything new, and both the washer and dryer were gone. Not sure if they were purchased or sent back to Miele to make more floor space.

Many 1918 washers come up on eBay. Most are being replaced by people who purchased an house/apartment/condo and consider the units too "small" for their use, and or persons also trading up to something else for the same reason.

Yes, the newer Miele washers are "smarter" than my mechanical driven model, but I like the simplicity of this unit. Plus as my Miele tech reminds me, the 10** series are like warhorses, they keep going and going.
