My partners AEG washer dryer combo died yesterday.
Very bad timing financially for him due to some stuff around the flat having been done recently.
It didn't do anything so I hopped in the service cycle and got the dreaded E5E error.
That basically means the motor control board does not communicate with the main board.
Beyond checking the wiring it's basically a 50/50 of it being either board. I couldn't get a properly configured main board right now, so the chance was I would be throwing a 150€ inverter board at it just to end up with still broken machine.
So we were basically looking at either spending about 500€ on a new machine of questionable quality (Haier, Whirlpool made Bauknecht or a Midea made house brand of a EU retailer) or a used machine.
Luckily, an ok deal was local. The guy sells used, reworked machines out of his garage.
He gave us 40€ for the broken AEG, so we spent 460€ on a used Miele WKH 130 WPS.
This has to be a very early W1.
It has a bit above 6700h on it. We were aware of the fact and I would have preferred paying a little less for the machine, but he gave us a year of warranty if anything should come up.
And if it does, the most expensive thing that could go wrong would be the water path selector. My partner works in train repair, so anything mechanical isn't hard between the 2 of us.
And the specific board for this machine can be repaired for 100€ if that should ever fail.
The reason I am pretty certain that's a VERY early machine is the programming options in thr service menu.
You can set it up to 1800rpm which wasn't possible on the SpeedCare 1600 I had.
It has a setting for the type of automatic dosing where you have options for external liquid dosing AND powder + liquid dosing. So my guess is that during the early days of the W1, they were thinking about adding something similar to AutoDos and maybe even giving us an 1800rpm model at some point.
It's heavy, but it's a Miele, so I knew that.
I'll post some pictures later.
