On vacation in Osaka, Japan. We rented a kitchenette room at a Holiday Inn near the Shinkansen station. The hotel advertised that they had laundry service available, but what it actually offers is IN ROOM washer-dryer combos!!! Miele WT2780 is the model. Looked it up on line and it appears to be primarily sold in Japan and Australia. Machine controls are labeled in English, but the digital display is in Japanese characters. Free packets of laundry detergent were already in the room, ready to go!

Ran a medium-sized load this morning. 1 pair of jeans, hooded sweatshirt, about 4 t-shirts, socks, and underwear. Took about 3 hours, which wasn’t a surprise. I had expected that I would need to iron everything, but when i took the items out of the machine at the end of the cycle they were just very slightly damp, but dried within a couple of minutes. I was able to smooth them out pretty well, so no iron needed. Took a couple pics to share. Excuse the messy room. :)

The WT2780 (and it's almost dozen or so iterations) were sold almost globally.

Was always surprised to find these weren't ever converted to inverter motors.
Very quiet none the less.

As far as I understand, Japanese washing machines are either larger or smaller that the typical EU size.
The "compact" size typical in the EU is usually served by manufacturers with their EU designs regardless of location.
