Hello All,
Still in operation! The problem is in the original Moen vertical mount single handle faucet. This was an early Moen that did *not* have a cartridge. Although the faucet shuts off perfectly the lever moves with great difficulty. Can anyone suggest a lubricant?? WD-40 works at first but then gets sticky. Help much appreciated.

I'd recognize that, had HP electric sink in 1953.

Never had it apart though (I was barely 8yo at the time).  I use a light film of silicone grease on faucet o-rings to make them move smoothly.  But again, don't know the internals of the Moen or even how it comes apart.

I know you can't use petroleum on rubber, kinda dissolves it.

At the transmitter plant use the silicone grease on all rubber pipe gaskets and tube seal gaskets for steampipes and water supply pipes in the transmitters. Some of the tubes are vapor-steam cooled.Vaporize water in the tube anode boiler to steam for more efficient cooling than pumpted water. Some tubes use pumpted water cooling-use the silicone grease on their seals, too.
