I don't know about one that old but by the early '70s Admiral was making some of them. My parents bought one, unfortunately a real pos that required a lot of warranty work. At the time they were told the top-freezer units were from Frigidaire, and only the side-by-sides were from Admiral.

The mid-60's Signature frost free top freezer model we had briefly growing up was supposedly made by Frigidaire. I don't know about earlier ones. I'm sure there are people here who can help you determine the true manufacturer. Would be great to see a picture of it.
Most M/W 'fridges were Admiral, or Frigidaire. Can't venture a guess to a 50's model!
