well, for better or worse i bought this one yesterday for 75 bucks up in lima ohio. saw it on craigs list and thought it was an 18" wide D&M machine like sears and other brands used to have.
montgomery ward "signature" mini maid dishwasher- anyone know who made this please?

it's a 19 inch wide
montgomery ward "signature" "mini maid" dishwasher and i have never seen one like it before!
does anyone here know who would have made this machine?
the model no. is shown in this pic and i can't find anything about it on the web. even called larry at modern parts house in cleveland and he never heard of it! that was a surprise, i thought if anyone would know about it's origin he would!
am trying to find out if there are any parts anywhere for it because it leaks! bad!!!

doesn't look that bad
from the underneath although there is some rust on the bottom of the motor, not a good sign.

better pic of the motor
and the rusted area. the drain hose had a big slit in it so i was hoping the water leakage was coming from this area, not the pump seal. no such luck!

that's black paint that
has come off part of the pump housing in this pic. by the time i was done it was all scraped off, it was peeling anyway.
spray arm has 3 water jets plus one on the side of each arm for torque.

with a twist of a nut.
the top of the dishwasher is in great shape! plastic top ofcourse!

was pretty much what i expected it to be. reminds me of the g.e. mobile maid pumps i have been working on lately.

protector peice removed easily. still no sign of any type of pump seal, no 0 rings or anything to keep water out of shaft area.

next this plastic lid has to come out

impeller. i expected a pump seal to be underneath it. wrong! at least no pump seal that i have ever worked with before.

once this impeller was removed
all i found was a motor shaft that goes down thru a rubber like boot about 1/2 inch thick and then into the top bearing of the motor! it doesn't look like anything could be replaced even if i could find a new part.
the only other pumps i have seen use these rubber boot like seals are on small drain pumps used on dishwashers and washers. i never expected the main pump on this dishwasher to use this type seal.
had i have known this i probably would not have bought this machine because when i put it all back together and tried it out it leaks badly!!!
