Veg's phone

Don't think I didn't catch that pink "Princess" rotary dial phone on the table! Is it an early one with the bell in a separate box mounted on the wall and the lighted dial that required a transformer plugged into an outlet?

Hate to disappoint you, but it's a fake. It's actually a pushbutton with the buttons where the dial holes should be. You'd be amazed how hard it is to dial! Still, it looks pretty good, so I'm happy with it. And it does have a real bell, not some electronic chirpy thing. I guess the turquoise one would go better in the room (match two lamps), so maybe I'll keep my eyes peeled for another one.

That's the only "fake" in my den. Everything else is gen-u-wine retro.

picsnpets

For all of those adorable pet pics I want to say "AWWWWWWWWWW".

Hope this one turns out. This is Cheeto (white) and Tux (black and white). Believe it or not, they are brothers. This is an earlier photo from 2003. Unfortunately, Cheeto disappeared in October, and we think that coyotes in the back pasture may have killed him. Our hope is that he was scared off by something and some loving person rescued and adopted him. He was definitely my favourite and I miss him very much.

A better pic of myself...

Here's a better picture of myself with my beloved nana, it was taken when we were on holiday in Norfolk in October 2004. The pictures also shows the two extremes of height in my family - there's me at 6'2 and my poor little nana, bless her. The picture was taken at Cromer Pier. For any of those who have seen the classic BBC sitcom Dad's Army, Cromer is where the outdoor scenes were filmed.

Austin and Retromom,

Your cats are so beautiful!!! I love cats to bits, it's a real shame my mum doesn't like animals in the house (although I don't blame her as my sister has practically every allergy available on the planet). Everyone else's pets are so beautiful too. The first things I buy (of course after a Miele dishwasher, washer, and dryer, lol!) when I get my new place will be a dog and a cat.

Take care all,

Jon

My dog Sam

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I just found a picture of the Yorkshire Terrier dog Sam my parents had until I was a little kid, when he had to be put down because of diabetes. I have very vague memories of him (after all I was only 1 1/2 when he died), but he was a very hyperactive dog. He used to love thunderstorms - unlike most pets who like to seek shelter, he used to beg at the back door howling to the thunder until he would be let outside and dash around the garden trying to chase the lightning! My uncle found him as a stray just after my parents got married in 1980, and because my nana didn't want another dog in the house (my uncle still lived with my nana back then), my mum and dad took it in as they had recently set up house.

Also, as a useful fact, you can see our first ever washing machine - it was an ever famous square door Hoover, a 1982 A3110 model 1100 Spin Electronic. I love it almost as much as my current AEG set :-D.

Take care all,

Jon

Bumpity bump!

Come on, you quiet people--let's get with the pictures!

Geez, if I can slap my ugly mug all over the internet, it should be easy for the rest of you!
