Mouldy canvas

I have an old canvas smock that I keep outside in my workshop that has unfortunately succumbed to mould (black spots). What would be the best thing to try and return it to its former glory?

I've read soaking it overnight in some form of cleaner such as Vanish may be a good idea. Some even say usuing diluted white vinegar. Would using pure sodium percarbonate be better?

I'm not sure what is best and would cause least damage.

Any ideas?

Boil wash,

with Lysol? Bleach?

I'd probably wash it in hot water and good detergent first, then use a quat based disinfectant to kill the mold. If stains are still visible, I'd hang it in the sun to dry.

Dishwasher detergent...

...has worked for me: I use it in the washing machine, for a European front loader between two and four tablets, temperature between 40°C and 60°C (100°F - 140°F) good results on both cotton and synthetics, but I have done it only on whites
