Recently saw the 1986 film 'Night, Mother. Starts with Sissy Spacek using a 1970s Kenmore washer and dryer with the controls on little boxes projecting from the back panels. Most of the movie takes place in the all-gold, all-Sears kitchen, which includes a '71 Lady K dishwasher.

If you like blacker-than-black comedy, Andy Warhol's Bad features a Philco washer in Carroll Baker's electrolysis boutique. Also a single-door Westinghouse fridge from the '60s, buy can't identify Carroll's electric range.

I have to watch Serial Mom again. I don't recall any appliance brands. Only Mrs Sutfin making prank phone calls to Mink Stole. "Is this area code 212 eff you?" Then running down the school principal with her 1987 Chevy Celebrity wagon.

One line subtitled: "Didn't you ever hear of SEARS?&

In Spanish class (10th grade, 30 years ago!) there was a movie about these two Hispanic gals (in Español, w/ English subtitles) and one uses a pre-programmed Kenmore washer for an American lady she was working for, explaining in the gibberish details about how "The Towels, blah, blah, blah..." go in this cycle, so the gal is left to push whatever buttons allowing the machine to start/stop, start/stop, until she gets the hang of it to wash on whatever cycle she was supposed to wash the lady's clothes in... A dryer sat next to it waiting to bring on the same confusion...
