Murals in Sacramento

An artist in from Sacramento sent me a couple of photos of some of the work he has done in Laundromats. They are quite breathtaking, thought others might enjoy them too...

Hi! Robert, "WOW these are great. Since I live in Sacramento, but have got my own Laundry Facility, could you please see if you could find out which Laundromat's these Mural's are located in? Otherwise, might you be able to contact the Artist and ask them if they would be kind to write to me "via" my E-Mail Address, to let me know where the Mural's are located? I don't recognize the Machines under the Mural's, it looks like it might be a newer Laundromat, more recently opened. I would love to get to check them out in person and maybe be able to find out if they're interested in doing more in other Laundromat's as well, around the area. There is another Laundromat in our Mid-Town area, that I have used for larger items once in a while, that is quite a large Laundromat and it does have some Wall Space, to do at least some kind of Mural's on the Walls there.

It's not a laundromat, but......

I love public art, especially heroic murals. Slightly OT, but the Amtrak station in Sacramento has a fabulous Mural about "The Founding Of The Railroad!" (or something like that) the building is "somewhat faded" but still a neat place to spend some time.

I love Sacramento. It has a wonderful downtown, and is just a short and beautiful train ride away from San Francisco!

Hey! Dan {dalangdon} if you have some or a lot of interest in Trains, have you gone to our Railroad Museum here in Sacramento? It is an awsome place and it just got some renovating of some more interesting Memorabilia that opened late last year of earlier this year.

I haven't gone down there yet to check out the new area, but will certainly be checking it out sometime real soon. There is also a Train Ride that runs South, along the River I believe to the area called the Town of Freeport, that leaves from the Railroad Museum, I've got to check out sometime as well.

"BTW" if you also like Paddle-Wheel Boats, there is 2- that run down the River, from Sacramento, North, towards the I-5 Freeway direction, and it turns around just before the I-5 Freeway crossing area. The Paddle-Wheel Boats are the "Matthew McKinley" and the "Spirit of Sacramento" and they run Dinner Cruises. They also have Photographer's that take Pix's of your Couple's/Group's that are naturally optional to buy, but hey who wouldn't like to have those wonderful memories!!!

There is also the "Dry-Docked" Delta King, Docked in the Old Sacramento area, that has a great Dining Room Upstairs, a Little Theatre Downstairs and a special "Who Done-It" Dinner Mystery Theatre audience particiation program that they have also on the Delta King as well.

Wow!!! They look beautiful!! Sure wish launderettes around here were like that - most round here have either cream walls or faux wood panels from the 1970s (although the old machines more than make up for the decoration :-D).

Steve - those machines are newer Electrolux-Wascator (or Wascomats as they are called in the USA) - they are Wascomat's 6th generation and were first on the market in 2003 if I'm correct in remembering. Have given you a link to their website.
