Yep, they're turning up everywhere it seems...

When I was in Boston a couple of weeks ago visiting Jon (jetcone), Eddie from the 'Cape visited and brought along the mint-condition 1970 GE Mobile Maid in coppertone. This is not quite the dishwasher I grew up with, but it was a real trip down memory lane having a coppertone top-loader in the kitchen again!

I loaded Maidee up with the dishes we accumulated on Friday and Saturday while we were 'off the grid'... Random loading thanks to the three-level wash system meant I could even let Hubby load this one!

Note to self... don't overload the front section of the upper rack 'cause it'll fall on you if you're not careful! LOL

Now, I was out working as a volunteer for the municipal elections in Ogden on Sunday, so Hubby ran Maidee for the first time. The dishes came out beautifully!

Jim, Maidee is definitely going to have a good and loving home!!

But wait! There's more....

I had seen this ad on the Quebec Kijiji classifieds this summer and balked a bit... But thanks to Phil's bad influence (LOL) I called about a 'retro dishwasher for vintage stove and refrigerator' advertised in a town north of Montreal.

Yeah, it's a Mobile Maid, too!!

Now this is something else - the 'Talisman' line was GE's top-of-the-line in the mid to late 60s here in Canada. I do not believe this line was sold in the US!

Oh, how confusing!! FOUR cycles to choose from?? Gasp - using the '56 GE pull-out is much simpler... LOL

So, we've got our choice of Daily Loads, Pots and Pans, China/Crystal, and, wait for it, Rinse and Hold! Truly the most cycles on any of the GE dishwashers I currently own.

OOOH! AAAAH! The Rinse Glo dispenser selector! I guess this was to allow you to not dispense rinse agent in a load of pots and pans that didn't really need to be spotless... That's my best guess anyway.

That bubble of rust worries me a bit, though... We all know what happens when plastisol goes bad!!

Last but not least... why I HAD to have this one - it was made in Montreal!

I can't decipher the Canadian model number to get a date code on this one, unfortunately. The model is: 15S61 00 19 11 and the serial number is: MA2 4888.

I can't wait to get this down to Ogden to try it out. I am anxious to see if the Pots and Pans cycle is an extended wash rather than a shorted wash with no dry like on my '62 MM. Likewise, I am curious to see if the China Crystal cycle uses an aeration system to 'soften' the wash action.

I'd better plan Coquille St-Jacques and Cranberry Pie for this weekend...

OMG Paul,

That MM was the identical one my Mom bought in 1966 for our summer home on the Cape. Same everything except the top was a Maple cutting Bosrd.

Silver shower (Gimmick), wasn't a bad performer.

Ouch ... be careful about stemware in those upper racks or anything tall. When that lid closes, Watch it carefully.

I'm happy you got it! I think I regret not getting that RCI-75C-59 range I saw with you earlier today! I've been looking to get one like that for about 10 years and didn't get it just because it had stuck storage drawer, a bad bake element, a bad clock and needed a few switches and a sensor...

wow its MM month for sure

actually year for me I've been seeing these all year.

What kind of wood is that supposed to be??? Or is that a gigantic close up photo of burlap??

Love the "Talisman" line up all those nice useful features for "instant fine living"!!

My aunt had the 1964 GE FF Talisman's. She got rid of them for a helical drive Maytag ha ha ha on her.

The Year Of The MM DWs

WOW Paul two cool MM DWs , the earlier one is a great example of GE engineering from the 60s, and the newer Coppertone model is a better daily driver and performer, tough choices.

The Silver Shower on the older one was diffidently a gimmick, the only thing it did was to reduce the overall washing effectiveness of the rest of the DW, LOL. I have a little later GE DW that has the SS arm and GE did not even connect water to it at the FACTORY, it was just there,I wounder how many users wondered why the arm always stopped in the same spot, LOL. On the earlier models with the SS that was connected and equipped with the side mounted Shaded Pole motor we were instructed to plug the water supply when servicing the machine to improve the overall performance of the DW.
