My Beautifull Launderette

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

The film was on TV some years ago and I watched the first few minutes before switching over to something more to my taste. I don't recall ever using a launderette in UK, though I did use a dryer in a New Zealand launderette once. I had washed some clothes at a caravan site but the dryer there was hopeless so I had looked for somewhere else to get them dry. In the repair trade I mainly only took on domestic machines, apart from the odd US toploader in hotels and caravan sites. I have never seen a dry cleaning machine.

I watched My Beautiful Laundrette a dozen times when it was first released. Seems a bit quaint now, but at the time it was the real deal.

I also applaud Daniel Day Lewis for his Oscar win the other night. Anyone else notice how much he looks like Morrissey these days? He'll have to play Morrissey in the bio-pic, LOL.

I dunno, has Daniel Day-Lewis made any movies about killing animals or eaten meat in them?

I was surprised no Omo jokes...

(an old friend of mine had a big crush on D D-L and started screaming as he kissed Omar and he sister rushed in thinking she was being attacked "he's kissing a guy!"... )

My Beautiful Launderette

Fido Phil, Did you work for yourself or a company / service organisation??

Eugene, yes a group of us where just saying the same , at the time it was so erotic, but was that the men, the washers, launderette setting or all?...ha ha

Phil, there are many Washeteria`s still in action, and many still have the old signs but alas not many old machines, lots of colour still about, here`s a laundry in Hereford that I pass on the wasy to South Wales...

Mike, that laundrette in Hereford looks brilliant! My local laundrette is pretty boring - Ipso 16 washes with a few JLA fast speed larger capacity machines. The dryers are old Loadstar's and, although more than likely VERY inefficient with regards to energy use, are pretty good in operation. Baildon Laundrette use to have all blue Primus machines at one point - there were 3 or 4 of them left when I was a kid - but they've since all been replaced.
