...was a 1970 hotpoint in HG with a light blue agitator
my first memories of it date to about 1972,was my first
"watched"machine and my first repair, back in 1979-had to fix
a leaky pump, dad had to help because the bronze hub/seal seat
of the plastic impeller was seized to the steel motor shaft.
in 1981,had to fix again-clutch this time, one of the 3 clutch
friction pads came off, could not easily get parts for this in
'81 so got clutch parts from a junker.Worked good for a few
mo.then has trouble spinning as outer tub was not draining
well-was about to investigate when washer clunked to a stop
with a seized motor and started leaking,a portion of the
sediment tube that is on the outside of the washtub came loose
(aluminum corroded as i recall)and a piece must have lodged
in the drain tube to the pump, built up a lint dam, then found
it's way to the pump jamming it and cracking the plastic
pump housing.with parts not readily avalible, parents bought a
new KM BD(that i have today)and the hotpoint was junked-after
i took parts i wanted,it was eventually hauled to the dump
-caught one last glimpse of it as a 'dozer shoved it and a
white rollermatic into the pit. would gladly add a vintage
hotpoint to my fleet today...
