After 30 plus years waiting for my return from the west I finally dug out my GE tabletop stereo from moms basement and brought it home. Plugged it in, turned it on and it still sounds great. I was fearing static in the volume control but none.

Very cool Stereo!
It is nice that you have it, and it works so great.
Now you can think about your friend that has passed, and enjoy the sounds.
Great looking, Compact Stereo.
GE had some great designs back when.
Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful. To quote or paraphrase James Lileks, when did we stop believing that we deserved to have things look like this?

Very cool.

Yes it does have a phono input as well as a tape out, L&R speakers out and a telescoping AM antenna/ FM ant screw-ins. I've got a ribbon FM antenna hooked up for the moment. The folding door speakers lift off the hinges which are also the signal connectors so if you wanted to extend them out further you'd need a patch cord (each speaker has a jack as well) and plug them in the back. It's pretty hefty as well considering it isn't that big. It's one of my lifelong possessions I wouldn't part with unlike 90% of the other stuff which I don't have any sentinmental attachments to.

That is VERY cool, petek. Enjoy it in good health.

That's a damn good question....every time I see yet another Bose Wave radio, I must admit, they sound okay, but why did they have to design it to look like the Port Authority Bus Terminal?

Another thing I don't get are the designs of the new HD TV antennas! No imagination....
