All three boxes made it to my home. Thanks again to Darren and his friend Bill. Wow...talk about a production!!

The boxes were in rough shape. I think when Customs opened the boxes, they didn't do a good job re-tape the boxes....the seems were coming off. Pieces were starting to poke through..few new scratches and occasional dent....overall everything appears to be in good shape..I really can't complain.

I will post the pictures...

Congratulations!!

Glad the Hobart made it to you safely (well, more or less!)! I am betting the folks at Canada Customs spent a while scratching their heads trying to figure out what it was... Glad it made it - keep us posted with updates as you reassemble it!!

love those pics

nothin better than hobart pics and the excitement when the new toy arrives!

that big blue spray arm rocks! i see it basically has the same motor and pump as the kd-12's i have, only looks like the pump housing on the commercial models is metal. would make sense.

enjoy. have fun

Wonderful!

As long as YOU and the machine made it home safe...we're all good!...That's all that matters....

Can't wait to see it put back together and installed!

New TOYS are so much fun!

WOW, you do have you work

cut out for such a big task. But something tells me Bob that you will do a great job in restoring this fine machine. Do have pictures and video up on your progress come along.
John

Tub Sizes

Absolutely Not.
The tub sizes are drastically different between a UM and a KA from that era. and the difference would be by about 12- 16 " in height. The UM series had a smaller wash chamber because of the 3 1/2 min cycle. The UM is a single rack machine. The wash principle (Pump Spray Arm etc) is the same as a 10, 11 and 12. Because of the upper rack on the Home machines is the reason for a longer cycle. The UM in 3 1/2 min could as I always say take the rust off a trailer hitch. Providing it had at least 170 degree water. There was a model that was the UM4D. The D stood for "Dual water Inlets". It allowed 150* wash water and 180* Rinse. Pain for plumbers and the owner, but it made sense. 180* water would bake on Lipstick during the wash. However the right chemical detergent would get the job done.

Yes you are correct...the tub differences are 3.5"..to bad...but the power this puppy has will out perform anything new...

Here are more pix....the #@$Q@$%@ heavy legs...must be solid metal..

I am not sure if anyone here remembers several years ago I scored on a whole bunch of brand new Hobart UM parts....timers, rack, screens, housing support, motor rotors, door latches...mind you I paid a good coin...hoping that someday I will find a UM-4...well--this machine is going to be like new in no time...I contacted the guy again to see if has anything else in his garage..(pump impeller, seals)?
