Hi all,
I've had an amazing 24 hrs! This time lastnight I got word of a Twin Tub from a nice lady called Bridget. She hooked me up with the owner who likes carboot sales etc. and at first he thought it was a Hotpoint and I thought it would have been a 9404 or something 80's. Then he mentioned the lids are white, I was puzzled and I remembered after the phonecall that the 1420 had white lids! However that was not the case and he looked at the machine and read "Hoovermatic Deluxe", instantly assumed that it would be the later tacky plastic ones from the 80's until I asked him to look at the back for the model number... Reads back "3314L"! I was shocked and I was speechless (fair enough they are common over there on UK turf but here in Ireland Deluxe models weren't the must have thing)! He mentioned it was working when last used and she is a little rough looking but none the less I jumped at the free offer! Gran had this model and this model also matches my 3102E Single Tub. So this morning came and I went 20 mins up the road to collect. When the door opened I was shocked that she was a bit rougher than I expected but I'll leave the opinion of "is she restorable" to you lot. I stripped her through the day and just a few simple bits left to do with it until I can sand and spray it.
Boo boo's are as follows:
Complete intrenal and external pipework needs to be replaced.
Motors rusty externally but seem clean inside. Wash motor sticking and so is timer but the timer appears to be the cause.
1 dial needs replacing.
Spin mount and motor mount rubbers need replaced.
Bellows possibly.
Castors.
Pulsator shaft puntured through pulsator and pulley stuck on.
I've probably missed out a thing or two but you get the picture.
Now does anybody know how to take off the top part of the Spinner and take the spin can out?
I need the service manual and intruction manual too.
So here's to the first Hoovermatic Deluxe in Irish collector's hands
WILL BE A CHALLENGE THOUGH!
Regards, James.
