My new Keurig K Supreme

Good afternoon all. Looks like Spring is finally a good one to all. Received my third Keurig Wednesday. By far the best coffee maker I have bought. I bought My first one in 2007 when they put it on the market to buy.still have it to this date, in 2011 even though nothing was wrong I decided to upgrade. So I bought the Vue, and I decided to upgrade again. It is by far the best machine I have ever bought, coffee is wonderful and nice and hot. A long way from my from my 1st coffee maker I bought in 1975, a 8 cup Farberware percolator which I still have and it still works beautifully. Everyone enjoy your day.

Mike- You won’t find much love for the Keurig system around here, but I have used one for years, as well. Like you, I was curious about the new line, so bought the Supreme Plus and gave my K-Elite to a friend’s college-age son.

I’ll never argue that a Keurig makes a top-notch cup of coffee—I was a Technivorm Moccamaster man—but I traded the difference in quality for convenience and variety. I keep at least a dozen brands/varieties of coffee, plus several brands of decaf and another half-dozen kinds of tea (for iced tea) on hand. I enjoy being able to choose a different coffee every time I make a cup. The quality would be better if I used one of those My K-Cup inserts and ground fresh beans daily, but that negates the convenience factor as well as being able to keep an admittedly ridiculous number of varieties in the pantry.

I like that the Supreme series has no “warm-up” routine when you turn it on. The water reservoir is much easier to fill, transport and reattach. I set both strength and temperature at their highest settings and generally make a 6-oz. cup. Like you, I’ve found the Supreme does make a more flavorful cup than the previous Keurigs I’ve had.

It will be interesting to see if the new series has better reliability. I think this is my 5th brewer over the years. On one occasion the machine developed issues; otherwise I simply wanted to try their latest version.

I've got an older Keurig that I use daily.  I only use the pods occasionally I use the gray torpedo shaped inserts with my own coffee in them.  I usually have 4 12 oz mugs a day and this way each of them is fresh and just the right temperature. I worry that the pump will go out at some point, don't know how well the newer versions would work with the after market refillable pods.  I like that the one posted above has a strength option as I find some pods lacking in body.

 

I'm not sure what model I have but it has a 70oz.+ tank, a clock to auto turn on and off and a selection of temps up to 190 degrees.

I got a Keurig "K500 Plus" about five or more years ago. Oddly, the brew button on the top front says "2.0", but I can't find mention of that in the owner's manual. Anyway, I'm fairly satisfied with it.

It is highly configurable, for things like brew size, brew temp, brew strength. It can also brew a 5 cup carafe. Also has a clock for automatic turn on in the morning. What I really like is that it's a no-hassle way to get a decent cup of coffee. I never bothered to get a carafe, as I have a Cuisinart Grind 'N Brew machine for that. One nice feature is the water reservoir, which can take filter pods to remove chlorine etc. I mostly use K-cup pods I get from Costco. Currently I'm favoring their "Organic Medium" line. Prior to that I liked the Costa Rica coffee pods, but have not found them in stores for a while.

Rich- I like the Costa Rica roast, too. I always order K-Cups from Keurig’s website, which offers a huge selection of coffee, tea, and even hot chocolate. Shipping is free for orders of at least $30. By creating an account, you accumulate points which can be redeemed for coffee, tea, brewers, and accessories in their Rewards Catalog. You don’t need to create an account to order from the website, but you won’t accumulate points.

The (relatively) small HyVee in town has a limited selection, so having products delivered to my door (usually UPS) is super-convenient.

Mike-- Green Mountain (Keurig's brand) Dark Magic and Double Diamond are great. I also like Peet's French Roast and Tully's French Extra Bold and Italian Extra Bold.

I'm only allowed 1 or 2 cups of caffeinated coffee per day, so it's decaf for me the rest of the time. Green Mountain's Dark Magic Decaf is excellent, although I think my favorite is Peet's House Blend decaf.

I probably use the Keurig for iced tea and coffee more than anything. They now have an accessory called the "HyperChiller" which you can brew into. Coffee or tea is cold in 60 seconds, then you pour cold beverage into a regular glass to drink it. The final product isn't watered down by brewing into a glassful of ice. It holds up to 12 ounces. It will chill two beverages. I liked mine so much I bought a second one so there's always one in the freezer.
