My new LG steam washer uses virtually no water

I treated myself to a new 10kg FL steam washer from LG. I have to say am pretty impressed with it. Considering the drum has no water in it for the clothes to tumble thru it does a great job. The only water in the drum is the water that is recirculated over the load as it tumbles. I did an empty run the other day and the water level was below the drum. It is pretty fast too and only does two rinses and spins at 1400 RPM.

Can't for the life of me workout how to bypass the door switch to have it run with the door open just to check it out.

Hello there

I have an LG F1479FDS5 washing machine. It's a 9kg TrueSteam model. The water level varies in every wash depending on the amount of clothes loaded in the drum. When you did the empty run it must have detected the lowest possible load in the detecting phase hence a very low water level.

If you want to see some water action, use the tub clean cycle. It is very effective and fun to watch! I use finish dishwasher tablets on the tub clean cycle.

Hi there, yes I have yet to use the tub clean programme. I might have a go later, it sounds exciting. Does your machine have the six motion technology? Mine does but it only uses six different motions at the start of the cycle. After that seems to just tumble like any regular FL machine.

It is cool the way it senses the load by spinning at the start. It does work well. I did a big towel wash and it took nearly three hours and had three rinses. It is a clever machine.

I maintain that my lg was the best washer I ever bought, it washed and rinsed great thanks to the powerful recirculatory jet!

It is still in service in my ex wife's possession washing for my 2 sons nearly 3 years in.

I plan to get another.

Hi there. Sorry for the delay in replying back. Yes mine has the 6 motion wash system too. It uses the 6 motions all the way through tbh. It does filtration tumbles frequently on cottons and some other programs, it also uses the scrub motion more frequently on smaller loads. Even the normal tumbles aren't exactly normal as they do a quarter turn in one direction then go in the other.

It is truly an amazing machine! Btw I love the colour of your machine! Here in the UK we only have a choice of silver, black or white. The colour of your machine would go much better in our kitchen but hey i'm not complaining.

What is the drum volume of your machine?
Mine is rated 9kg/69l or 68l.
