As many of you know Katie and I are moving soon.

Unfortunately the kitchen has no gas line so I will need an electric stove. As an Induction unit is out of my price range a glasstop was in order. I cook too much for the BOL MC coil top stove. I went to local appliance dealer Warner's Stellian's website and found this stove. The WP WFE720H0AS.
This is a black Friday deal with a $400 discount. The WP MSRP is $1249 USD. WS sells it for $1199 USD. I paid $799 USD!
I have high hopes for this range. Here is a link to Whirlpool's site.

I love my 2011 gas Whirlpool range.....

and I think you will love this range. I could not be happier with the Accu-Bake system. The only times I have scorched food has been due to operator error.

Nick, as much as you cook, there are times I'm sure you're not the "neatest" cook.  From what I read, the ceramic tops can be PITA and high maintenance if you want to keep it looking nice.  I also have reservations about the AquaLift cleaning method.  I think it's a half-assed approach to self-clean that someone thought up to be "energy star" type of approach.  Personally, I think it's going to be a "bill of goods".  A lot more effort.  I've lived with a half-assed continuous clean oven for 29 years and I look forward to the day when I can have a real self-clean oven.  The split rack harkens back to Maytag.  That was a Maytag innovation.  Too bad you cannot find a great GE P7 self-clean oven with the porcelain burner bowls that go in the oven during self-clean cycle.

Porcelain Burner Bowls:

Can be retrofitted to a vintage GE range.

Appliance parts houses and eBay are two sources.

You have to be sure and get the correct type for the range in question - some use the modern "one-piece" design intended for plug-in elements, where the trim ring is part of the burner bowl. Earlier ranges use the bowl that is intended for use with Tilt-Lock burners, where the trim ring is a separate chrome piece. These are harder to find, but they're out there.

To clean either type, put them on the oven rack during a cleaning cycle, upside down. This concentrates heat under the bowl and burns off the nasties.

Below is a link to an eBay listing for one of the Tilt-Lock style bowls:

Nice Range

A year ago I actually passed on the Whirlpool/Maytag because of the Aqualift cleaning system. I opted for a GE because it had a steam clean as well as a pyro clean cycle. Now to be truthful, I have never had to use the high heat clean since I got it.

The Steam clean cycle is 30 minutes, then you wipe the oven down afterwards--just like when you high heat clean you have to wipe up the ash, in this case the food curls up and falls off the walls and floor.

With my experience with the steam clean cycle, it would not deter me from purchasing that system again.

As for smooth top, you do have to exercise a little more care about not sliding pans across and careful not to drop things, wipe up sugar and tomato spills immediately. Clean with a conditioner after use and it is very durable and will serve you for a very long time.

P.S--You will love the convection baking.

GE - Steam Clean

in my Induction Range is quite amazing. I chose it over the aqualift design in the Whirlpool. The induction top is light years ahead of the smooth top range in both cooking and cleaning aspects. I certainly don't miss the gas cooking at all!

I have a portable Induction cooktop

And I agree with Malcom with how well they perform. Mine being 110V, I can only imagine what it would be like to have the power of 220 in a range.

Unfortunately, I like Nick, the cost of an induction range was more than my checkbook would allow. But definitely the next time. For now, I am very happy with my radiant smooth top.

Warners' Stellian is awesome. Too bad they don't do their own repairs... I like the one in Edina. I feel I could spend 100k in that store and still not be satisfied! (They are updating their miele kitchen with the new induction range and the region sales rep wants me to go back for an open house event. That is such a gorgeous induction range!)

Anywho, with the glass top, I'm always mucking something up and have found that bar keeper's friend and a blue scotch brite sponge is my best friend. Let the top cool and clean with that..

I think the AquaLift is a neat way of cleaning stuff... Its how I clean my stainless pans... I put water in the dirty pan and let it simmer while I get the other washing up done and dump the debris and water down the disposer with cold water... I think it would be better than having a small space fill with a nasty burnt smell for 3 hours.

I've got a frigidaire gallery range with the fast bake option, so its not true convection. You'll love the way the accubake bakes with the convection. My landlord decided to get a whirlpool when she found out I didn't like the frigidaire. I think I've used her oven more than I've used my own.

The one thing I will say I love about my oven compared to hers is the bearing shelf rack.. I open the door, the shelf slides out with it and regardless of the weight of dish, the shelf is always smooth gliding.

That sure is a pretty range!
