Please help me name the color. I just bought this GE range on eBay. Does anyone know the correct name for the color. It looks a little pink in the pic but it is more tan than pink. Also, is this a 1959 model? would this be a Stratoliner, Liberator or what. This one has the burner with the temp sensor and a grill button but there is no grill outlet like some I have seen. I didn't get the griddle with this one either. Does anyone know what the Grill button does. I didn't get a meat probe with this one either. Does anyone have an extra? I know someone here will have all the answers for me!

Thanks!

I'm gonna take a stab at it right quick. The color is definitely in the taupe family. My guess is it's deep taupe or a color called toast.

Not sure about copper. But it's not coppertone, which was one of the colors of the popular color trio of the 60's and 70's that included avocado green and harvest gold.

GE has a name for this color, which is not coppertone nor pink. I know someone will know/remember the name of it. I always rather liked it.

I am going to Doeskin, I do remember that at some time but might have been Whirlpool&Kenmore.

WOW, Congratulations on the beautiful Woodtone Brown range. That is a fabulous range. I hope you enjoy it for a long time. To prevent wear to the porcelain on the right of the surface units, find a nice, footed piece of Lexan to keep there so that utensils, dishes, etc will not abrade the surface. I am so happy for you. That range with the control panel on pedestals shows the uplifting, eyes skyward, optimism that technology would solve all of the problems and the great designing that used to go into appliances because they were modern marvels, not something that was supposed to be invisible in the kitchen.

I think the Woodtone color was quite popular in the late 1950s & early 1960s. Seems as though every new house built in our subdivision during that period that had GE appliances, had this color selected for the appliances.

Hey oxydolfan

Ashes of Roses was the color of Meggie's dress in the Thornbirds. Did you see that? The party scene where she comes down the stairs and takes Fr. Ralph's breath away. At any rate, the color of this range was a predecessor to coppertone. I remember in the late 60's and 70's avocado green and coppertone ruled.

Thanks everyone. I was thinking sandlewood, must be woodtone. Don't worry Tom, I intend to preserve this piece. I bought it for a collectible rather than a workhorse. It really is in great shape. It just needs a little cleaning. They had a matching bottom freezer refrigerator that matched. Someone from NC snagged it from me with about 7 seconds to go. I wonder if someone from here got it?
