Neptune that is!! Pictured here are my "new" tags (MAH4000) - the product of a divorce (ooops). The advertisement stated that they were in "good condition" with nothing wrong (ummmmm - right). When I opened the storage unit where they languished, I noticed that the washer door was closed - so it was no surprise to find mold throughout the tub boot (I took them in any case). After getting them home I cleaned out much accumulated fabric softener (what a devil of an overused product) and called the lonely Maytag guy to install both a wax motor and tub boot/drain retrofit. The horrible softener/mold smell gone, they both function beautifully and sing a happy tune (especially during the spin cycle). As the washer sticker states "Outstanding Cleaning Through Stain Removal - New Stain Cycle Option" Woohoo!

Could you post a videos so we can hear these "lovely tunes"? I didn't know they had versions of the Maytag Neptune set with mechanical controls.

mechanical maytags

I have the same set purchased new in Dec 1999. I just love this set. They can handle pretty much anything I put into them. King size overstuffed comforters, King size pillows. I have even washed the floor mats from my truck in them. The high speed singing spin is incredible, basically the only time you hear the washer running, such low water usage and low detergent and fabric softener usage. I do a lot of white loads and use Clorox liquid bleach and never have had a mold problem. I never leave the doors open either for venting, no problems. Dryer is natural gas and always beats the washer for finishing first, trully the best machines i have owned. Good luck and enjoy them for many years. Jon
