One of my flying partners, Nancy, gave me this Kirby G3 last week and after a little clean up here it is. I knew Nancy's mother, a fastidious woman and the original owner, who took very good care of it. She passed away last year and Nancy finally was ready to let it go.

It is complete with hose and attachments but not the rug renovator.

I ran the attachments through the dishwasher, (without any of the brushes), along with all the base trim pieces including the metal rug nozzle with the bumper removed but the bumper went through the dishwasher too!

I replaced the outer bag as a CWP, (Clevland Wood Products, a division of Scott & Fetzer, the parent company of Kirby), bag was on without the correct labeling. All the metal parts were polished with Autosol or Flitz. Other items replaced: headlight cover, lens, brushroll, belt, front wheels, fill tube and power cord.

Whether you like or hate the G series, it is a good vacuum and has the newer power switch for the tech drive. When these first came out I was not fond of them but they have grown on me. I have sold all my other G series but plan to keep this one.

Hi Charlie, What a beautiful G3. Looks and sounds like you have really put some work into it. I didn't realize you could even remove the bumpers and put those in the dishwasher too. Do you use and electric buffing wheel? You sure have a shine on her!! Thanks for sharing. Terry

Terry,

Thanks sweetie for your kind message. I used a friend's buffing wheel. The bumber is easy to remove. After removing the rug nozzle, you loosen the belt, remove the bottom place and the rubber bumper just pulls off.

After cleaning it, when you put it back on, you have to push it hard to make it fit tightly so it goes on as far as possible so the bottom plate will fit correctly when it is replaced.

It was fun working on it and I think Nancy's mother was watching me from up above!
