Neat Old Kenmore Dryer in Seattle Suburbs...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Eddie, that's the exact washer friends in Dallas had when I was very little. Boy did that darn thing suds lock until housewife started using AD and Dash. I'd love to see pics of the inside. I think it only had hot and warm wash temps. The dryer they had was the same style console, but I believe older because the timer facia was a dark blue and I think with white lettering. This was the same family with the Hotpoint dishwasher. With 6 kids, washers didn't last too many yers. This was replaced with a BOL Laundromat 1962 or 1963. The dryer was replacd with a Westinghouse L2000 or thereabouts before the washer was replaced--hence the later Laundromat.

That Kenmore Dryer Brings Back Memories

I had the same model Kenmore dryer--a gas model--in the early 1970's. My father bought it because he was sick and tired of hearing me whine about drying clothes in the backyard. He bought it from a friend for 50 bucks, connected a gas line in the garage and cut a hole for the vent. Voila--a working dryer. Only problem is that I had to trek from the laundry room inside the house, open the garage door (no direct entry to the home) and dry the clothes. But it was better than hanging them on a line week after week. The Kenmore gave out after three years; my parents replaced it with a new Kenmore model that was being discontinued (I believe they bought it for about $120 back in '72). Between the Kenmore washer my grandfather gave us, and the two Kenmore dryers, washdays were not so bad days.

That dryer is in great shape...must have a porcelain cabinet. My aunt had that set when I was a kid. I think that is the first year that Kenmore washers had side-swing lids.
