Hi all, it looks like I will be placing order for new washer and dryer today. The last thread I started ended up being super helpful and helped me decide to skip going for an expensive Speed Queen front loader for now and focus on capacity/feature set and low price for this go aroundDo people here think there's good reason to spend the extra dough? This machine will probably wash 2-3 loads a week for my family of four (wife, baby, very large dog who sheds). My suspicion is that the 3370 is plenty good enough for our needs.

I think we've settled on an LG front loader, but haven't decided between the 3370 and newer 3570. When you factor in the price difference (at Home Depot) between the older and new versions of this washer as well as the companion electric dryer for both, there's an approx $500 difference.

Here's the product compare chart from Home Depot's website:

Head Rules

I think you should buy the best you can afford for your family, buying products on price/features is a bad way to buy I think.

Remember if you are paying for glitter box features on the outside what has been cut back on inside to give you those.

Good luck

Your link did not work. It looks like the only difference between the two is one has turbo wash and the other doesn't. LG's advertisement says that turbo wash takes 20 minutes off the average wash cycle. Depending upon your families needs that may be important. Hopefully some people who own these machines will chime in soon

Get the 3570!

Get the LG WM3570. Consumer reports rated the LG WM3370 at the very bottom of their ratings. It came with a score of 13 out of 100 vs. 78 out of 100 for the WM3570.

Thanks for the feedback all. I did not see the Consumer Reports rating, yikes! I know sometimes those rankings can be misleading, but with all the positive praise for the 3570 I've seen on the web, seems like it is the safer choice.

Get the 3570! It has an internal water heater to provide truly hot water on cycles like Allergy and Sanitize. The turbo wash feature also enhances cleaning and shortens the wash cycle.

You'll have the washer for many years. The extra money spent on the 3570 will be well worth the investment.

Lack of Internal Heater?

It looks like in the comparison link, it is comparing a 3170 (not a 3370) to a 3570. The 3170 (as shown in the link) does not have a heater. I would definitely go with the 3570. You'll be glad you did!

One of the big improvements of the current model LG's is the new design of the wash baffles in the drum.  They are now the entire length of the tub where as before they were only half the length of the tub.  I could not understand why they were using such short baffles in the designs this model replaced.

I am very happy with my LG's both are 3570's and they are efficient, quiet, and the washer cleans like no other. The dryer is smooth and very fast. The washer replaced a SQ top loader that I still have in my basement that I will be getting rid of soon. The dryer replaced a GE Profile that decided to lose its mind. I think that you will be quite happy with them.
The new LG washer drum also has more holes along with the full width drum vanes. My sister in law has the 4070's and the wash action is no different than what I have in mine.

Daniel,
I bought the WM3170CW and matching dryer 2 mo. ago. It is pretty similar to the 3570, except there is no heater, which was really not important to me. I have been very satisfied with both of these machines. I have found that when washing smaller loads of heavy items, like bath towels, hoodies, bath rugs, ect. it is best to use the Bulky cycle as the spin speed is med. This way there is no problem with the machine going into a spin, at higher spin speeds it doesn't want to balance sometimes with these kinds of heavy items. I guess that's why they have a Bulky cycle. Then when the load has finished and the majority of the water weight is gone I run a spin only at ex high, this way these heavy towels, ect dry in 35 mins. I wash most loads on hot and I would have to agree with Mike in reply #13 that the laundry does come out much cleaner than it did in a TL. The extra time that the washing takes is more than made up in the decreased drying times. And the electric bill went down over $20.00 per mo. from what it was for the same time last year. I have found that for most loads I use the small load cycle, hot, ex high spin and heavy soil level, this gives 55 mins. per cycle which is not too bad. Also, for washing kingsize comforters, bedspreads and mattress pads as well as pillows these LG FL's cant't be beat. The matching dryer holds alot and it is quiet and fast. I don't regret my choice at all. I'm sure you would be happy with either of the LG's you are considering.
