hello to all aw members back in 2016 2017 when my mom and i had to replace the dishwasher, we went with a ge dishwasher at the time it was number 1 on the top 10 chart but for years i have been trying to convince my mom that maytag dishwashers are the better cleaner but my mom do not went a maytag dishwasher i just hope next time the dishwasher needs replacement a sales clerck explain to my mom that maytag dishwashers are good from this list of replace dishwashers we went fron a

1993 inglis (whirlpool dishwasher) that no longer fill unless cycle was reset to a kenmore dishwasher then to another kenmore dishwasher because it was leaking water after kitchen renovation from the kenmore dishwasher to the ge dishwasher we have now curent dishwasher is not broken but in the long term need to find a way to convince my mom to consider maytag or kitchenaid dishwashers or whirlpool also my mom neeed to realise that no matter the selected washer cycle option or not cycles are longer now sorry for my post.

Is there anything wrong with your nearly-new GE, either in function or in performance?

If not, I'd say wait until that situation changes to do any other planning. If it ends up lasting a while, then the market for what machines are available, and which are the best choices, could be completely different than what is available today... making some of this long-term planning a needless waste of effort.

no there is nothing wrong but last time i did a load there where 2 metal plates that fell when i can will take a pic and post them everything works find and thank you for your advice

Hmmm,

must have a stainless tub? Look like mounting tabs, or filler tabs when a solid surface counter top does not accomidate top mounting, then these may be exchabged for wood cabinet side mount brackets. Just a guess now.
A currently manufactured major appliance used daily by a family of four lasts on the average of 7 to 9 years before the cost to repair excedes the practicality of replacement. There is always the exception to the rule of course,
and this may not always apply to a freezer, or refrigerator, or an appliance with fewer moving parts.
Other than operating hours, ambient temperartures and humidity can shorten the life of parts. Heat is an enemy of microchips, seals, etc. So, for example one used often with the heated dry and or water cycle may shorten the life of the control board, etc. My 2011 model GE profile had a 5 year control board warranty. Not a problem with it yet, knock on oak!
Long term planning? Save the deniro, and long term plan rather for moms, or spouse, and your own senior long term care, or etsate planning with an elder law attorney.

Heat shields

Those are heat shields!!!!
Those protect the lower wash arm from the heating element.
I would not use this machine till those are replaced or the lower arm is replaced.
