so i walked through my new apartment today, moving on sat.
I am a lucky guy to get an early 2000s Whirlpool washer and dryer.

It's weird....what's the deal with this agitator??? why's the skirt under the fins so dang tall? And why's the tub so narrow?

I can tell you why!
When the DD was introduced, the skirt was as low as the ole BD and the basket was getting damaged by buckles, zippers and metal buttons.
Whirlpool gave the skirt extra height which eliminated this problem. Also it gives the water reverse roll for the lint filter to be extra effective. Weird huh?

And of course it belong in a 24" Standard capacity washer.

so how are these on the treatment of clothes. seriously?
the washer has one speed, and has up to 18 minutes!!! of normal wash.

the delicate cycle is an intermittent agitate cycle.

i have nice kakhis and button down shirts, some sateen shirts. are they gonna be ripped to shreds?
should i put my work clothes in for like 3 minute cycles? lol, oh the agony.

ALSO, the machine does not have a fabric softener dispenser.....will it spin fast enough before the rinse to open a Downy ball???? Because my current GE only does a low pulsed spin, which cannot open the ball.

I personally have never had a problem with the dual action agitator in the Whirlpool or the Kenmore's. You should be fine as long as you don't overload it, overloading these machines seems to cause a lot of tears and rips on clothes. Hence why some people call them Shredmore's and Cruel Action agitators, but again, don't overload it and everything will be fine. My sis in law hand crochets big blankets and washes them often in her Kenmore, which is the exact same as a Whirlpool, and none have come out damaged. And yeah, it will spin fast enough to open a Downy Ball. I also know this from experience.
