Well bugger me!!!!!!

Cant get over this one, picked up a bottle on yesterday and couldnt believe my eyes or nose for that matter.

This stuff has the scent I remember the regular Automatic liquid having in the 80's/early 90's.

Can anyone confirm if im right on this?

If not then its definately something from yesteryear.

Oh only if I could find something to handwash...... kitchens net curtains are due hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Would if I could,

Its such a beasst to get out Paul!

Bloody things dont move that easily and you really need a van to cart it arouns.

They are imposible to drain thouroughly before laying them in the car.

Have some handwashing to get done later although whether or not I choose to pop it into the automatic is something I dont know yet lol.

Either way il use the new liquid, suds killing cheap softener at the ready!

Hey Rob

Was in Tescos today so had a sniff of it...Lovely!

It seems strange that although I can't remember the smell of Ariel liquid back in the day as my mum did not buy it the smell did seem very familiar.

50 handwashes it says on the bottle. How many caps do you think it need for a top loader / twin tub?

Rob.....no doubt you can use some next time the Hottie comes out to play, yea it must be a swine moving it around though!

Mark, if its 15ml diluted in 5ltrs of water then by my reconing you would need roughly 117mls for the T/L. If I remember correctly the Hotpoint T/L uses 156ltrs for a wash and 3 rinses, so the wash portion would use 39 ltrs of water.......if that makes sense.

Thanks Paul!

I have no idea on how much water machines use so that was very useful information about the top loader.

Don't think ill be buying it to try if im only going to get 5 washes out of it..lol

She's a thirsty old girl...

...that 1509! Service info for these machines with 3 water levels states the tub fill amount as 15 gals (69 l) for full, 11 gals (51 l) on medium and 9 gals (39 l) on small load. Enough to give a boy palpitations!

I think the later models were marginally stingier with total consumption stated as either 163 l (Hotpoint) or 170 l (EEC testing). I've seen hot water consuption shown as 57 l for hot wash so that's about right for the 3 tub fills (consisiting of 1 wash and 2 rinses plus a little tub flush post wash).

Do the 15- series drain completely after the wash or are they setup for cooling before the static rinse?

Trully my one great washer love but I might never have one now...sob sob!

P&G auto powders are quite economical in the HPTL if dosed on the handwashing ratio of 1/4 scoop to 10l (i.e. 1.5 scoops or 1.5 X whatever derivitive amount they use now - 40 mls I think). 'Course, that's a double dose in soft water but a mere fraction more in hard! Not sure how effective it would be at washing - though I tried to replicate in a bucket I wouldn't be sure... A bit obsessive, perhaps?

I do wonder why there was such a discrepancy between the amounts of powder Hotpoint recommended in hard and soft water when compared to the front loader dose: hard water went up 50% from 2 cups to 3 whereas soft water was increased 250% from 1 cup to 2.5! We'll ignore the recommendation for 4-5 cups of soap powder in hard water...could you even get that much powder in the filter clean tray I wonder?

I live in hope of making a HPTL my washday partner. Mark - you are a lucky, lucky man!

Toodles

Al
