It seems like so many people I know have gotten new cars in the last two years or so. Most of them truly did need new cars as theirs were having too many problems. I have a 15 year old car that's about to have 100,000 miles on it and I have been tempted several times to trade it in. But when I see the prices on the used ones that seem to have ridiculously high miles on them already, it helps me to not do it. Plus, there is something that just feels good about having the oldest car in the parking lot at work. All of them probably have car payments and I don't have to deal with that.

My car still runs fine and I haven't had to do any repairs other than the usual maintenance items. I don't even know what kind of car I would buy. I'd like something loaded out, maybe just a newer sedan, but there are times I'd like to have an SUV or minivan. My car's seats don't fold down and it's just hard to move things in it that you don't want to put in the trunk. That's the only complaint I have other than it just not having the newer features just because it's older.

Both of us work for one of the Big 3...my car is a 2009 with 67k and my husband's is a 2003 which just turned 140k. We don't make anything like my car any more...no real interest in anything in the lineup now. My next promotion will bring a car and the requirement to buy/lease a car every 4 years...not hugely an incentive to me to go for the brass ring...much rather max out my 401k

Every time I've looked into it, used cars were priced so close to new, and when adding it all together, things like mileage and whether it was still under warranty or not it seemed silly to get a used car vs new when some kind of incentive and low percentage financing is offered for the new one. I think the best deals are model year end deals.
My brother leased a brand new fully loaded 2015 Honda Civic EX-L for $250 a month back in August. That thing seriously has just about everything including sunroof, leather, auto climate control, and heated seats. He was previously paying $210 a month for a '13 civic LX - the base model with nothing added but an automatic.
