Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I concur with the above advice. Over the past 20 years I've seen the fewest service issues with GE ranges. That said I don't think you'd go wrong with a Frigidaire or a proper self-cleaning Whirlpool either.

Make sure to stay away from anything Whirlpool that has the "AquaLift" self cleaning system. It was a poor attempt to replace self cleaning with a steam clean cycle on their upper line models, that Whirlpool is now starting to move away from with their latest lineup. Other brands have steam cleaning too, but it's an additional option to self clean on their upper end units, not a replacement.

I would avoid LG and Samsung as well. I've seen too many LG range issues with the porcelain enamel inside the oven not holding up (a lot of owners don't notice/care about this so it doesn't show up in most reviews, however for me it's a deal breaker). And I've seen too many Samsung range issues with... pretty much everything.

I would be third for GE, I have had 3 GE's since 1984. All self cleaning/Convection. One coil type and the 2 smooth tops. I loved the smooth tops the best, easiest to keep clean. My next will probably induction. The first three pictures are the range in my house in Pennsylvania, the last two are my current range in my house in Florida. I like the cooktop configuration on the current range.

My recommendation would also be a GE Smooth Top.  Like Mike in reply #6 I’ve also owned GE electric stoves for the last 20 years, two coil tops and the  current smooth top and I’ve liked everyone of them, but the current smooth top with a self cleaning oven is hands down the best.  I’ve never owned a stove that was easier to keep clean and the temp control on the burners is excellent!  They heat up rapidly and cool down quickly too.

I'll be 5th for General Electric

I currently have a GE Induction I bought new in 2015. Bakes and cooks beautifully, built like a tank, looks great, has great features and super easy to keep clean. Have had zero issues with it. Prior to this I had GE coil tops at two previous homes and both were great, zero issues.

I also currently have a 1958 30" TOL GE at a cottage. Same feedback - built like a tank, looks great, super reliable, cooks and bakes beautifully and has nice features.

I think with any smooth top I've found you just need to be a little more careful to keep it looking good. Keep it clean, wipe it down after use, don't drag cookware across the glass, use glass cooktop cleaner/polish once in awhile etc. The bonus is you don't need to deal with drip pans and trim rings.

Good luck on your search, let us know where you end up
