Hey guys!
Whilst trawlin through currys and comet i saw these shiney new samsungs. while i love the styling! i would never have one again after my last experience with a samsung!

They come in 7 & 8kg!

Darren

Very nice looking...

...but deceiving!

They say Samsung spare parts are hard to come by. They say that of LG spares, too.

Speaking of Samsung, that reminds me - how is 'Samsungfl' and the Hoover Vision saga?

Not Very Good At All!!

Yeah those Samsungs look like LG'S lol! Not to Hi-jack this post but the Hoover story just gets worse! We waited almost two weeks for it to get fixed with all the new parts, and yesterday the engineer came and did his job, to a poor standard!

The module has not been screwed in properly so its banging into the cabinet of the machine making some very loud noises! But despite that I thought it would run well! When horror struck today when it proceeded to create that horrible burning smell again in the main wash!!! A DAY into it being fixed! So it did the normal thing of cutting out for about half an hour as usual!

I'm personally quite angry that this has happened, and Hoover have said that if the same problem happens again they will not fix it!, but give us a refund! So hopefully doing this wont be to much of a lenghty process! Because we just want the Miele now! I think its safe to say that the Hoover has given us alot of grief and that it should be taken away!

Sorry Ive rambled on about something irrelevant to this forum Darren! Thought I'd just keep you posted as roles rapide asked!

On the Samsung front however, I do not think we'll be getting one after how the last one performed! As ive said before Darren will properly agree LOL!

Richard

Richard...

Thanks for the update.

That machine is obviously jinxed (I wonder if it was made on Friday 13th?).

Good luck with getting the refund.

Your welcome for the update!! Ive not a clue whether the machine is jinxed or its just a bad design maybe LOL!! It just dosnt seem to have the strength in it to turn a 3-4kg load of towels! When it starts a tumble it almost looks like the drum is going to stall and go back! Thats how slowly it starts off hehe!

Getting a refund shouldnt be to hard hopefully, as Hoover and the retailer have said that if this problem happens again they will give us a refund! So fingers crossed! :)

Richard

Bad news about the hoover richard. get rid!

Yes i can certainly say i would never touch a samsung again. Its a shame as i liked the flexiblilty the variable spin, temp rinses & sensitive progs!

Darren

Same here Darren!! I was so suprised you could have anything from 1-5 rinses on any program! And the sensitive programs sounded great but I think there was alot left to be desired! :( Maybe these new ones are better!? Did you find on your Samsung that most of the programs worked in the same way?

Sorry I hi jacked this thread for a bit by the way LOL

Richard

Yea bit like my hotpoint really. same drum rhythms and water levels. just lower spins for the particular fabrics. even delicates did interm spins!!!

I think its a case of a leopard cant change its spots with samsung, the new ones look really funky. but i bet they still can't spin!!

No worries! I had been wondering how you were gettin on with your hoover. You goin to get a miele next then?

Darren.

It puts one off ...

Purchasing a Hoover!

I wonder if the model you had was a prototype/early release model?

When we had the 'New Wave' (early model purchased in 1993), it had various faults (door lock needed adjusting; refused to do the 'spinwash'; aborted during the wash; doorseal split, shortcircuiting the heater; engineer replaced power board, scratching the front panel - that had to be replaced. Door surround/latch wore down and had to be renewed).

The worst machine my Mum ever owned - it put her off 'computerised' gadgetry, for life!

Yet the later models hung on quite well, and seemed okay ofter the initial teething problems were ironed out.

Rolls,
Were talking 2 seperate hoovers here. While it is known the newwaves had teething problems, the ones i've had have had no major issues. Hoover isn't hoover anymore. Its just a name. owned by a crap company. Sadly.

I love electronics! all those various combinations and lights and countdown displays. Whats not to love about it!

Darren.

Darren

I am quite aware of the differences, thank you.

I was merely wondering if Richard's troubles are to do with his 'Vision' being an early model straight off the production line; a model that escaped design revisions, etc. Similar to the way my Mother's 'New wave' was a very early model.

I like computerised stuff, but my Mother grew to detest the New Wave's flashing abort LEDs.

My Mum bought a Samsung machine 3 years ago and is delighted with it. Very easy to use and a really good washer. I have used it several times and my only critisism is that it doesn't have a 50 degree wash temp setting, other than that, it is a very good machine

Rolls,
What i said wasn't meant as a criticm! I'm defensive of old hoover vs new hoover. As the we know the only thing holding them together is a name. Not even a badge anymore as they've dropped the classic red circular logo.

Maybe your mothers new wave and richards vision were made on a weds or friday. lol.

Dito richard! Wish i cud of said the same about my samsung too. I grew tired of identical wash rhymthes and water levels for every fabric and about a maximum spin of 800rpm after 20mins instead of 1200! lol.

Darren

Yeah same here lol! It used to annoy me and my mother like mad LOL! Ive never come across a machine so sensitive! I tried it with one dry t-shirt in one spin once to see if it would spin! And it didnt!! Just slowed down and spent ages doing those time consuming anti tangle tumbles before the next distribution!!

I really cant see these new ones being much different, I'd imagine it to have trates of the ones weve had lol!

Richard

Darren

That's okay -I'll let you off! LOL.

You are quite right. Candy has been next to no good for Hoover. And why have the gotten rid of the Hoover roundel? Have they lost the copyright on it?

Hmm...Just had a look at Hoover.co.uk

The roundel is still used apparently, on the vacs and the upper ranges of laundry appliances, as well as the standard 'Nextra' machines.

It appears not to be used on the budget 'Optima' laundry range. Is this the case, or have the top models also lost it?

Sorry again if i sounded abit offish rolls!

No on their new optima 7kg machines its gone, and i think its even gone from the TOL models from what i've seen:( That was about the last link between the real thing. Including the block captial HOOVER badge. That'll be the next thing to change...then hoover sadly WILL just be a word. A link to a previously sucessful company.

Darren

That's OK :)

It makes you wonder what the hell Hoover/Candy are thinking of. They have an extremely recognisable logo - and yet they appear to want to be rid of it?!? Doesn't make sense.

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot fathom their thinking.
