Hi everyone.
Wow amazed I've stumbled across this site. have been into old twin tub washing machines since i was a kid and remember gran and mum using them. Have just bought a Hoovermatic Deluxe T5054 twin tub and been told the drain pumps not working so picking it up tomorrow and will have a look. anyone here got a parts diagram for these machines.
Can post some pics when i get it home and sorted.
Thanks. Si

Welcome!

Hope you will have hours of fun with you machine and browsing here.

You have a great machine to start with, I should know as I own the 3314L, one of it's many predecessors, from 1975. They are amazing machines and very easily maintained as their contruction was simple, Hotpoint being slightly more heavier and more to go wrong but didn't as they were quality.

Anyway you have a lovely machine and I don't have any diagrams for it specifically but I'm sure it is basically the same as my 3314L diagrams.

What did the seller say to you about the pump? If it isn't working altogether then it's just a belt which is easy.

Piccy of mine.

James.

Welcome Si. I'm into twintubs too, grandma's Easy got me started but I don't have the space or resources to collect. TTs are much harder to find in US than UK and EU.

Hey, I've been into washing machines/dryers since I was a toddler, but there's a story behind it which links back to my mother really. How about yourself? I hope you get your machine sorted.

Welcome to the group!

Twin tubs, a way of life for some round ere, as fer me like well- Get it in the automatic on a boil lololololol.

Once you get one, you have to get em all! One of each make, at least, I mean then the fun triples. Hotpoint to clean properly, and spin properly and rinse properly and OOOOvah and Servis to use as Hostess Trollies and Mop Buckets!

Enjoy!

someone in my neck of the woods, Wiltshire (i am in Swindon)! welcome to this site and congrats on your purchase

Hi Aquarius
Great pic and brochure pic. how many machines have u got then? was brought up with hotpoint twintubs but remember a mint condition hoovermatic in the corner that wasnt used beacuse (makes to much damn mess) lol
Had a 1964 hoovermatic given to me when I was 14 as was going to the tip and broken i soon fixed that then not realizing just what I had. sold it BOO HOO!

Hi Hoovermatic.
Wow your in Swindon. Im over in Marlborough. Have u got any twintubs then? Thanks for the welcome btw.

I don't at the moment, I had a 3314L and 3334 and had to get rid of them both due to lack of storage but am always on the lookout - I found the 3314L dumped in the alley out the back of the house - almost as if had be heaven sent LOL!!

T5054 Problems...

Hi again,

I have 3 possible situations for your spinner problem.

1. Carbon Brushes done.
2. Suppressor (mines blew and I just bypassed it, it only reduces interference and I've had no problems)
3. Wiring least likely.

3314L's are lovely and not very common, at least in Ireland as I am lead to believe I own the only restored one in Ireland.

It was a wreck when I got it but new paint and parts did the trick.
The body wasn't rotten so that was good.

James.

Ah thanks

Me and T'other half (matchboxpaul)have amassed around 60 washers dryers dishwashers etc, automatics mostly but 2 twinnies are in there. T5054 which imo is Hoovers nicest design and colourway.

Gutting to think of those long gone Twinnies but they can be found and restored given the time and inclination so nothing to worry about now.

My profile pic was taken on "The Nab" on boxing day last year, The Nab being a landmark in Pauls home village of Whalley in Lancashire. So picturesque! Love it up there, makes for some great views.

Are you on facebook by chance? plenty of pics on my profile, few of the twinnies and a few of the automatics I use as daily machines,

Hi Supermaticjames.

Thanks very much for the advice.havent had a Hoovermatic like this before just a very old 1964 one when i was 14 so a bit Different inside. Will update you tommorow when i get it back and see whats wrong.Remember we had a Hoovermatic the same as your project in the kitchen collecting dust when i was a kid. gran used a hotpoint as couldnt get to grips with the hoover loll

Hi Si.

Welcome to the club - popped you a quick replay message in Youtube earlier in the evening.

Congrats on the acquisition of your T5054. I am sure you will iron out any isue with it.
When you get your hands on it, be sure to post us some pics of it.
If you need any parts diagrams - let us know! There are a fair number of service manuals out there still and someone I am sure, myself included, will oblige with photographs and scans of them.

Below is mine and Rob's T5054, picked up last year from North Wales. As I mentioned in the Youtube message, had we not poked our noses into a shop and Rob asked about old appliances, then it would have been took to the tip later that same day.

Apart from a spinner lid release that failed to lift the lid and being a bit tobacco stained, the machine was in full working order.
Certainly a lucky fine.

Again, welcome to the club and have fun tinkering tomorrow.
Paul
p.s congrats again to James and his excellent restoration of his 3314L.
