Hi Tommy, welcome and since you are an upgraded member, you can go anywhere on this site. Feel free to just explore all the forums or search the archives and more than likely, some question on an appliance has been figured out there, but dont be afraid to ask as not everyone is the smartest on a computer here either, but Robert, our Webmaster, as he can fix any and everything on this site.

Losangeles/Tommy:

Welcome to the group!

You've stumbled into a world of very nice & knowledgeable members here who all share in the common interest of vintage washers & appliances.

I look forward to reading comments & posts from you.

Again welcome to the group!
:o)

Hi Tommy,
Welcome to the club.

A URL link is the address that is used to reach a particular page on web.

For example- You see something that is posted about an appliance that you want to share with other members. You highlight that pages web address at the top of the webpage by clicking on it. It will become highlighted. You right click the mouse and select COPY from that drop down menu. Go to "URL link to share" on the Automatic washer page, right click in that window and select "PASTE". The web address for the page that your sharing will appear in that space and when you finish making your post the link to your post will appear in your posting. Anyone that clicks on it will be taken to the article webpage or picture that you wanted to share.

I hope that explains it to you. It's a very easy process to do.

Again, welcome to the club. You've found a great group of people who are willing to help and share their knowledge. ENJOY

Have a Great Day

Washdaddy / Rick

Thank you

Thank you washdaddy.  that helped so much.  I don't imagine that I will be using URL till I get better with the basics.  BTW if I am looking for help finding a part, what is the best forum to go to?

Also I really like looking at video of other members washing machines in operation.  what forum do I use or what are some of the other website that I can go to.

Toward the top of each section (eg Imperial), there's a box to search. Using Chrome and Firefox, I am unable to search. Specifically, I get a new Google window, but no results appear (see attached screen shot)

However, I can search archives this way.

To find Maytag, I type this address line for Google:

site://www.automaticwasher.org Maytag

Is there a better way to search, or should I be using a different web browser?

The search function you see there links to Google.  I believe it automatically includes the site:automaticwasher.org parameter.

Paid members have access to a search function internal to the discussion board database.

moat all videos are viewed through www.YouTube.com......you can search just about anything under the sun.....from seeing machines in action, to repair vids...its all there....

plus as a paid member, you have a massive library of past threads for just about any question you may have, which most likely has already been discussed, plenty of ideas there......

once you logged in, and are the main page, click any forum, and to your upper right corner, are search engines for the site, either by that particular forum, or click on Super Search-A-Lator.....inside are instructions for searching any sort of text......

a Google option is available as well.......

_______________________________

from the main page, you can slide your cursor over the Daily Double, to see a Picture of the Day or Patent of the Day, by sliding over one of the options, and left click....

slide your cursor over many text in the site, if options are available, they will highlight, and give you a number of options to choose from.....

theres a lot to see and view on here......search around and have some fun......

heres an idea of a youtube vid....we can link them right into these windows, OR, you can copy and paste from youtube to the URL link......which ever fits your needs....

Hello Muscle Shoals!!

I was born in Florence!!  We did most of our shopping in Florence and both of my parents worked down there too.  Daddy retired from Reynolds in 1998.  Welcome to our group!  It's nice to see some "home folk" on here.

Hi Tommy, welcome to the site! As most have already expressed, this is a very kind and welcoming group. I remember when I stumbled upon this site (I think) way back in 2001 or so and couldn't believe there was an entire world of folks out there just like me.

Welcome and enjoy all this group has to offer!

Todd (aka washerlover)
