If you think that's pricey, there's always this...
This is the fridge I'm looking for (in sunny yellow though). Note the price tag of $7,200. Good luck getting that. It looks to be complete and in really good shape, but honestly, I'd pay $300-$400 tops.
I think the same 1963 has been listed on eBay in the past and there was a thread about it here that time too (see picture below!)...
I guess the seller just wants to sell it to the best offer he'll get! I rarely bother to make offers below the quarter of the asking price as some sellers might think it's insulting. But since the seller still asks a lot for it, if it was a local listing, I might consider offering 100 times less than the "Buy it Now" price!
$1,000,000?! Wow. I saw one that looked exactly like this last year on the Athens GA Craigslist site for $200. We're looking for this fridge in sunny yellow and now that I know the whole thing is porcelained enamel, I may just keep up the search. My thought was to get a white one and have it painted, but porcelain enamel is a whole different animal...
....The response one of my wackier friends sends to outrageous pricing like this:
Dear Seller:
What are you smoking and where can the rest of us get some?
By the way, Jason - The porcelain enamel was an option on Frigidaires; you paid extra for it. So, both painted and porcelain versions of the model you're looking for should exist.
Phil, that's the one! I saved the pictures for reference.
Good to know that the non-white versions only come painted. I don't see too many of these fridges pop up, so hopefully I'll get lucky one of these days.
