I've Never....

....Seen that particular control panel before - and that's a pretty fuzzy pic - but this looks like it could be a MOL D & M-built Kenmore. Whatever it's branded as, it's definitely D & M:

Or a Tappan

Well on second glance it could be a Tappan badged D&M, but I didn't think Tappan was still using the D&M design when the pop-up tower was introduced. By this time I think Tappan had picked a GE design to badge(?).

Modern Maid. This looks like a Modern Maid . They had models made separate for individual use as we'll as replacement models for existing units set up for their "range that washed dishes" a great concept that was extremely popular in tight spaces. They are now defunct but were at one time a Raytheon owned subsidiary.

It's an abbreviation for 'Design & Manufacturing' - they were the company who built dishwashers for a number of appliance companies. They 'grew' out of a company called Avco, a division of American Standard (the plumbing fixture company). They built a dishwasher branded 'American Kitchens' that had a rotating round upper dishrack - this launched the 'Roto-Rack' dishwashers sold by Kenmore, Kelvinator, Admiral and other manufacturers. Later models had standard square upper racks. Other brands D&M built dishwashers for included Tappan, O'Keefe & Merrit, Caloric, Chambers and yes, for one year only, Whirlpool.

Manufacture for different brands...

So do they make dishwashers anymore or who makes dishwashers for the likes of Viking, AGA, Thermador, Gaggenau, Heartland and etc?

The reason I ask is I doubt those companies make their own dishwasher line... Well except Thermador, but... The rest, you can't find interior shots and it makes me believe they are wanting to hide the fact that they are probably the same type of machine with an exterior fascia change... Just ways to keep the $$ up for the namesake..

Thanks for the info btw :)
