I became aware the old workhorse wash washing at completely random temps when preset to the correct setting. Checked 2 leads from front control pcb to thermistor which read about 100K Ohms, having measured this at room temp a few years ago I knew it was about 77K. Removed thermistor from its rubber grommet at rear of drum and measured again, it was 77K. Checked crimps ok. Stuck meter across thermistor and tapped it gently, resistance went into the megohms/open cct/100K. The stainless probe consisted of a glass bead thermistor bonded into black resin with spades stuck on top. Drilled out resin and old device and fitted new bead NTC thermistor with flying leads and backfilled with epoxy. We are rolling again for the princely sum of £0.60p HOORAY.
