One of the joys and frustrations
Of collecting is just this - there are dry periods and then there are periods of way too much!
I passed on an appliance about five years ago. The car was nearly full, we had a long drive home, it was $12.00 not $10.00 as usual and I didn't want to encourage the trend at Goodwill to raise prices.....
With the result that I didn't see a single, solitary one of that particular appliance again until two days ago.
I collect Presto pressure cookers. Would love to find a 2qt. Passed on a 2.5qt. fifty years ago - sure I'd find millions more of them.
Well, I found two this summer. After looking continuously and diligently for fifty years.
Your belt-drive will show up. One suggestion: Expand your search parameters. Most non AW members haven't a clue that the newest Whirlpools are belt-drive, most have no clue that all were belt-drive until the mid-80's. ALL have no clue how old their appliances really are - I am looking into a Flair this coming week. It's a mid-1954 model!*
*While it's true there are a few early ones from '61 with date stamps of 1959 on the parts, there just weren't any on the market in the 1950s.
